My name is Joseph K, and I was raised in the Karnataka state, India. I was born and brought up in a Hindu family. I mostly grew up with only a mother, one older brother, and one younger sister, as my father passed away when I was 7 years old. In 1993, even though there was no church or pastor in my village, the Lord brought the Gospel into my home. This was through one of my brother’s friends. Earlier, I remember thinking about how very difficult it would be to accept the Gospel message, as that would mean a change in religion. Continually he would visit my family and share a God’s Word. It was my brother who accepted the gospel first, and then my mother. Later on, our family heard of a church that had been started and decided to attend the church. I was not serious about Christ until the 10th grade, even though I used to attend church with my family. However, one day as I was hearing about the Person and work of Jesus Christ, and how Jesus died for sins of His people, and how He paid the penalty we deserve on the cross. The pastor then issued the call of repentance and faith. I saw clearly that if I confessed my sin and believed in Jesus, I would have eternal life. That is what I did. I cried out to the Lord in repentance and placed my faith in Him for my salvation. My life changed. My mother was praying for me to be used in the ministry, even though, being without a father, I had to work and support my family. But as I continued to hear the Gospel preached every week, eventually the desire to preach Christ and serve him became stronger. I informed my pastor and church that I thought I was being called into the ministry, as I now had a desire to be a pastor. I decided to go to Bible college and spend the next 7 years in doctrinal preparation. In the end, I completed my M.TH. I then submitted myself as an internship to a healthy church. In this internship, my desire to preach the undiluted Gospel became stronger. I learned many practical things through this time. My desire is to live faithfully for Christ, preach the Gospel in season and out of season, and finish the race well.
