Vijay’s father sitting in front of the church’s “we preach Christ crucified” banner, along with some of the potential new church planters. Praise God for these bold and sincere preachers of the Gospel in South India.

For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:22–24

It is very encouraging to see God’s hand at work in remarkable ways in the ministry of one of our missionaries in South India. HeartCry missionary Vijay S. has been running a church-planting training ministry for the last ten years through his local church. The ministry was formed after his father, a former Brahmin Hindu, was converted many years ago and labored faithfully in the ministry through much hardship for multiple decades. Now the church has trained and sent out around 70 men to plant churches and evangelize unreached areas of South India.

One way that church planters are raised up is through a 40-day Bible training program that Vijay’s ministry has conducted several times. Currently the fifth such program is in process, running from October 1 through November 15, which has 27 total students, many of which are potential new church planters. The students are receiving in-depth training from a small group of American and Indian pastors, as well as from a 23-session Gospel video series preached by Paul Washer and translated by Vijay.

We would appreciate your prayers that…

  • God would send out laborers into India’s harvest field from among these men.
  • God would empower the instructors of this training to communicate the truths of Scripture with clarity and conviction.
  • God would root deeply in the hearts of these men the blessed truths of the Gospel by His Word and His Spirit.
  • God would persevere and protect Vijay, his father, and the others in the ministry as they boldly preach “Christ Crucified” in South India.

Thank you for your partnership in prayer for these faithful men.
