Testimony of Conversion

My Lord and Savior chose me before the foundation of the world, but He called me effectively at the end of 1996. At that time, I was a college student majoring in Food Science. In college, some students shared the gospel with me and lent me a New Testament, which I eagerly read because of my many questions about God and Christ. I was a staunch atheist then, but I was motivated to search for the truth about Christ’s resurrection. After much searching and reading books other than the Bible, I became convinced of the resurrection, though not converted. My life was very disordered, especially in the sexual area. One day after a very moving experience, in a dream, I woke up crying and begging God to save me. To my surprise, I soon discovered that my heart had changed. What I once loved, I now hated, and vice versa. I was soon inserted into the group of university believers in my faculty at the University of Havana. On the other hand, I was immediately inserted into a local Pentecostal church in the city of Cardenas, where I was born and raised. The pastor who baptized me a year and a half later had been a pastor since before 1959, and, favorably, he was very close to the Scriptures. In this congregation, I immediately began to serve and study different courses for leadership.

Call to Ministry

After three years of preparation and service in the local church, I decided, out of a burning desire in my heart, to leave my secular job, which was approved and supported by the pastor I mentioned earlier. At his request, I soon began to work full-time in that church, which, six months later, sent me, with the consensus of the whole church, to a city about an hour away to plant a new church. In this town, I have been serving the Kingdom since 2001, well accompanied by my wife and two small children. Today we have a church, which after going through many storms, has 26 members and 35 regular visitors, counting the children. By the grace of our God, 8 years ago, we were rescued from false doctrines, such as Arminianism, Continuationism, Dispensationalism, and serious ecclesiological errors, among others. Today by the mercy and goodness of our Father and Savior, the church I pastor is in very good health, every individual and family is being transformed according to the Scriptures, and new families are being reached by the Gospel. What we believe, from the Scriptures and their content in the main doctrines, is detailed in The London Confession of Faith of 1689, to which we have a full subscription.
