Nick was saved from a Hindu and Buddhist family, and after his conversion was used to start a church plant in his home village. Since then he has begun another church plant close to his home where he is now serving as pastor.

Testimony of Conversion

As a child I was brought up in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. I heard about Jesus Christ for the first time in 1988 when my family was in the midst of many challenges, both spiritual and physical. My family, especially my father, began to hear about Christ from some pastors who had come to our village. One day these men came to my house and started to share from God’s Word. From that day on they visited my house regularly to spend time with my family and speak to us about Jesus Christ.

At that time, though I did not know about Christ fully, I used to join in the conversation and listen to the preaching of God’s Word. While I listened to the teaching, I felt joy and comfort in my heart. During that time I was experiencing physical problems. There was a problem in my hand and I could not move it properly. Later on, the Lord healed me of this problem, which I could not have imagined at the time. With time I saw that Jesus was not only my physical healer but must also be my spiritual healer, and I came to know Christ as my personal Savior and understood the power of God and His grace that was upon me. God taught me the truth of John 3:16, that if we believe in Him we will not perish but have eternal life.

The Lord grew my faith as I came to know Him more. At that time we had to travel far from our village to go to the worship service, because the church was located in the city. In 1990 we started a fellowship in our own village with just three members. I started sharing from God’s Word according to what I knew. With time, my brother was converted also and he went to study for two years at a Bible school and began helping us in the ministry. The Lord added many souls day after day, year after year, and eventually we started another local church plant where I am now serving.

I knew that God had called me as a leader to minister among His people, but I lacked any Biblical training and sound teaching. I had a burden to know sound teaching and I was eager to learn. I thank God for the blessing both spiritually and financially that He has given me through HeartCry, which has helped me to learn sound doctrine over the previous years. The seminars have helped me to grow in His grace and have helped me serve as a leader of the church.
