MESF

Middle East Student Fellowship (MESF) is a university ministry based in an undisclosed location in the Middle East that was launched shortly after September 11, 2001. They are active on about 20 campuses across the country, sharing the gospel with students from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds. Their aim is to establish indigenous fellowships of students on the campuses, supported and led by indigenous staff team, all of whom bear witness to the Lordship of Christ Jesus.

Testimony of Conversion

I grew up in a Christian background but didn’t come to know the Lord until four years ago through my brother, who came to hear the gospel through the focus ministry on campus and was saved by the Lord. I didn’t like the gospel when my brother shared it, nor I wanted to do anything with it because I was not able to understand how a good God who is holy can forgive and die for someone else’s sin. I could see my life, and it was the worst possible place for me to be, and if I were God, I wouldn’t save myself either. My brother, who became a Christian, wanted us to go to a gospel-preaching church, and women at the church started reading the scripture with me and talking to me about the gospel. It took quite a long time, and I gradually became a Christian while reading the scripture. I took baptism in that Church after I understood the gospel and believed in the work of Christ.

Testimony of Call to Ministry

After becoming a Christian, I did not desire to share the gospel nor understand it as necessary. While speaking to a member of the current church that I am a member of, she reminded me that I do not want to share this great news of salvation because I do not love people enough. She encouraged me to pray that the Lord who changed my heart would give me the heart to love those who have not heard the gospel and that he would even give me opportunities. He heard my prayer, started giving me opportunities to share the gospel, and started helping out with FOCUS to reach out to university students until I was asked if I wanted to do this full-time. I resigned from my job working for the prince of RAK and joined FOCUS so that I could reach out to the women in the universities and share the gospel with them that they might understand the truth of Christ, repent and turn to Christ. I took a significant pay cut, but my time for evangelism and teaching the Word to women have increased!
