The names in the following true story from one of our HeartCry missionaries have been left out to protect the identity of those in the account. About a year ago, a man and his wife moved to Norway to find work. They wanted to save money and buy a house. But after they moved they started making small compromises.
After arriving in Norway, the husband began playing the guitar and contrabass on the street to make money. One day, a man came to him to offer his wife a job. She was supposed to work as an overseer in a restaurant where she would be paid very well. She accepted the job and after several months they were able to make much money. The husband returned to Romania, bought the apartment and furniture, and then travelled back to Norway.
Once he arrived, he realized that his wife was involved in prostitution and this is how she had earned the money. From the very beginning when she started working for the man, the man made her do that, but then she accepted the compromise to see how much money she could make. When the woman’s husband realized what was going on, he told her that he was leaving her. He then came back to Romania to file for a divorce. This is where poverty, worries and compromise lead them. But God was still watching over them.
The woman came home and she and her husband called me for counseling. I am thankful to God and to HeartCry for the book on Christian counseling, which was very helpful. I listened to the couple and explained to them that all these things happened because they turned away from God. The husband began to understand that if he wanted to restore his relationship with God, he had to forgive his wife, stay with her and their two children and serve the Lord together. We prayed together in tears and could feel the power of God in giving them peace in their hearts. The husband returned the divorce papers and both of them started attending church again. I believe that God has won this family for Him.
