We are back in Leon and are extremely thankful for the home and church that God has given us here! What a joy to serve the Lord in Spain, and to have been able to visit the States for a little while.
Furlough summer 2018
Thank you for praying for the remainder of our time in Los Angeles. We continued to enjoy visiting different churches around that area, and especially, being at our sending church, Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. By God’s grace and the generosity of many believers, the Lord provided all of the funds that we needed to raise! He is so good and faithful to provide for His children! He also allowed for us to have a much better flight with our kids. This time around the airline provided a bassinet for Zoe and two extra seats for the rest of our kids so we all were much more comfortable, and mom & dad actually slept a bit!
Back in Leon, Spain
A couple of days after we returned to Leon, Ruben returned to the office to work on his responsibilities for The Berea Seminary (writing an academic handbook) and responsibilities for our church. He was also asked to translate for a few guests from the Bay area in California who had arrived to teach at a music camp here in Leon. We learned very much about how we worship God in every area of our lives, not only through music. “All acts of worship are triggered by remembrance.” Remembering the gospel throughout our day no matter our circumstances should lead us to worship God for His act of redemption in our lives. Ruben is currently preparing sermons for a series on Job that he will be preaching in the next few months, and also a series on the Gospel that he will be preaching once a month on Missions’ Thursday at our church. Please pray that the Lord would give him much wisdom as he studies and that he would do it all excellently for God’s glory.
Women of the Word Conference
From September 28th-30th, our church held a women’s conference called Mujeres de la Palabra (Women of the Word) for the women in our church and around Spain. The theme was how to get the most from God’s Word. We are excited as we are starting from scratch in many ways and are grateful to be able to serve the ladies who attended. Jenn led worship throughout the weekend.
Berea Conference
From October 19th-21st, our church will be holding a Berea Conference on the topic of the church. Our ministry partner & elder at our church, David Robles, along with our friend Pastor Jona Recaman from Galicia, and Pastor Henry Tolopilo from Grace Community Church teaching on that weekend. Please pray for the preparations for the conference. This same weekend is also the start for the Berea Seminary school year. There are a total of 38 students from different parts of Spain, including from our own church in Leon. Please pray for these students that they would work diligently for the glory of God!
Ruben’s Road Trips
The day after the Berean Conference, Ruben will be traveling to the Czech Republic for the TMAI Europe summit. He will be there with other GMI missionaries from October 22nd through the 25th. The same day he returns to Leon, we will have some new friends from Tennessee come to visit us for a few days. The day they leave, Ruben will be traveling to Barcelona for a conference with HeartCry Missionary Society. He will be there from October 29th through November 2nd. Ruben’s parents will be traveling to Leon from Galicia to stay with Jenn and the kids while he is away. They are very kind to want to come and help Jenn, and they truly are always so generous and serve us sacrificially! Pray for Ruben as he travels and is with many other missionaries. Pray that he would be a blessing to all.
