EARTHQUAKE RELIEF PROGRAM IN LAMJUNG-NEPAL

Dear Brother, Greetings in Christ our Lord. We are so thankful for your prayer and HeartCry team supporting for earthquake victims for Nepal. It was a great opportunity to be part of this relief program but also we have faced a great challenge in doing this work. We want to thank God allowing us to reach among the people with a compassionate heart. So far God has helped us to bring relief for the earthquake victims of Lamjung District.

On May 6th we booked a tractor to carry the materials and a jeep to reach Kolki & Illam Phokari. It was an adventure journey for us crossing alongside a small river and mountains in risky roads. At 10:30 am we came to a place called Gauda. We were exhausted because of terrible roads and we were also hungry. We took a good rest and had our lunch at 11:30 am. At 12:00 pm we started our journey from Gauda and reached Kolki at 2:00 pm. There we saw many peoples in a small field waiting for food and materials. Some of the non-Christian peoples groups were supplying noodles, rice, potatoes, and etc. through the Nepali Army and village development committee. Although some of the private organization and government were supplying those things there, we had already discovered in our first visit and gave tin for the most needy families whose houses were totally collapsed. We gave 180 pieces of tin for the families in Kolki.

DISTRUBTING TIN IN KOLKI-LAMJUNG

We had a deep desire to share the gospel to those people but we are not allowed to share the gospel directly in that situation. Media has published that some of the Christian groups and organization has forcing the people to convert into Christianity in a wrong manner. But we have shared that we are Christian and Christians have contributed for this relief work. Though we are not able to preach the word of Gospel directly but with our deeds we have showed the love of Christ. We hope in Christ that may God give us more opportunity to share the truth directly and prepare their hearts for the Gospel.

After distributing in Kolki started our journey at 3:00 pm and went to Illam Pokhari and reached at 3:40 pm. There were some Christian families in that village. Altogether there were 50 houses and some of the houses were damaged and some were leaking. We distributed 25 kg rice and 1 blanket for each family both Christian and non Christian people. We finish all the work there and had word of prayer with some Christian brothers and sisters there and started our journey at 5:00 pm.

We returned back to Beshishar at 9:00 pm. On May 7th, Brothers Greg P., Nick and Harka returned back to Butwal. But I and brother Rodney P. stayed there because we have also planned out to distributed for the needy Christian peoples whose houses were collapsed and cracked by the earthquake in some other villages. We were unable to reach every house of the Christian brothers and sisters in different villages but we invited most needy peoples on that day and we had a good fellowship with those brothers and sisters. Brother Rodney P. encouraged from Galatians 6:9-10.

Among 57 family, we found the most 10 poor family whose houses were totally collapsed. We distributed 1 blanket, 25 kg rice and NPR 11,000.00 to buy tin for each most needy. The rest we only distributed 25 kg rice and one blanket for each family. This distributing program was held in brother Pradeep meeting place. Some of the pastors were invited there for the program. We couldn’t distribute for all on that day and we handed over to Brother Pradeep and Brother Dil Bahadur for the rest of distribution work.

On 8th May, Brother Rodney P. and I returned back to Butwal and reached at 3:00 pm. We want to thank God helping us in this mission field. In every challenges and difficulties God sustained us thus far with the power of the Holy Spirit. We are looking more opportunity to help the most needy children who has lost their family as well as lost their house. We are praying and looking forward to help in their education. May His kingdom advance and the Christ glorify all in His work.
