Testimony of

Velmor S.

Testimony of Conversion

My parents were Christians, so I grew up attending every Sunday school, VBS, conference, and camp that were available to us. I only enjoyed it for the fun that came with friends.

The lessons, preaching, and Gospel presentation would come to make an impact on me; it made me think of the destination my spirit was headed to after earthly death.

Exposure to the Word led me to know and believe that I was a sinner, was in great need of Christ, and that apart from Him, there is no salvation for my soul.

Call to Ministry

The knowledge of sin, and of Christ, humbled me to take on the privilege of being an earthly vessel; proclaiming the Gospel for the salvation of God’s people.

The desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, along with the privilege to study and learn, gives me the burden and desire to share the Gospel with others.

2026

In 2026, Velmor was called home from this earthly dwelling to his heavenly rest after a battle with cancer. Though we grieve the loss of a fellow soldier and worker in the harvest, we are not without hope, for we know that Velmor is now in the presence of our Lord, Savior, and King.

A fellow pastor and ministry partner with HeartCry in the Philippines, Manny Avena, penned the following eulogy.

“The life of Pastor Velmor Monang Sepal (January 31, 1980 – 2026) was a testament to the power of the gospel to capture a man’s heart and never let go. From his teenage years in the 1990s, Velmor was marked by a zeal for missions that would eventually lead him into the deep waters of Reformed theology. While his formal theological education began at Baptist Bible Seminary & Institute (BBSI) in 1998, his heart was already “reforming” decades ago. He was a student and teacher of the Covenant of Grace, a conviction so deep that it shaped his home and his pulpit long before he formally graduated from Grace Ministerial Academy (GMA) in 2019.

In 2016, Velmor joined Valleyview Baptist Church (VVBC), but his heart was restless for the unreached. By November 2017, he was officially sent out as a VVBC missionary, laboring tirelessly to plant a work built on the solid foundation of the 1689 Baptist Confession. His missionary journey reached a crowning milestone on July 30, 2023, with his formal ordination and the covenanting of the church. For the last two years and seven months, he served as the faithful pastor of DRBC, modeling a rare blend of academic rigor and missionary fire. Married to his beloved wife on February 23, 2003, Velmor was a man who lived out the doctrines he preached. He was one who understood that missions is not just about starting works, but about feeding the flock of God with the sovereign grace of Christ.”
