Testimony of Conversion

Before I got saved, I was a staunch Anglican, taught that those who were not part of my religion were false prophets. My understanding was that Anglicans were the ones who had the right gospel and who alone were going to Heaven. I tried to follow the law, going to church every Sunday and working within an Anglican church, thinking that I was working near the presence of God. In short, I believed in salvation by works.

I was invited by a friend to attend another church’s evening service, where the preacher preached the gospel, and I felt I was wasting time working in the church without knowing God. The preacher preached about sin, and how we were born sinners, and the fact that judgment was at hand. I felt pierced in my heart and realized the need for salvation. My heart had been judged and I already knew that Christ was the solution to my problem. By God’s grace I was able to repent and believe the gospel. After believing in Christ, I felt a burden off my shoulders.

My life now has changed because I learned to study the Bible personally rather than depending only on the reverend’s words. My way of teaching Sunday-school children changed because I was now teaching the God I knew instead of teaching the God whom I did not know.  I now live not on my own, but by God’s grace and for His glory.
