Testimony of Conversion

I was born on February 2nd, 1971 in Chifwiti village to Chief Mphamba in Lundazi district, the Eastern Province of Zambia.

On April 12th, 1992, I was invited by my fellow primary schoolmate, Pastor Felix Madika Kabongo of New Hope Bible Church to attend a Sunday service in Emmasdale Compound in Lusaka. After the church service, he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to me personally, and I came to believe in the name of the Lord as my Savior.

I thank God that He saved me by His own sovereign grace. To Him, I owe the joy and peace of my heart.

On the very same day, Pastor Felix introduced me to the youth and Mandevu cell group. I had the desire to engage myself in proper theological studies so that one day I could serve God as a minister of His Word myself. In 1995, I was trained in matters pertaining to church growth for two weeks only. Later, on August 18th, 1995, I was baptized by immersion by the late Pastor Henry Phiri of New Hope Bible Church in Chibolya.

Call to Ministry

In August of 1995, all of us who were in the process to be ordained as deacons, elders, and pastors were trained in discipleship and evangelism for a week. Then, on August 25th, 1996, I was ordained as a pastor.

On August 30th, 1998, I was sent to Kalunghuzya Village in the Petauke District, to pastor a church which had just been planted. I served there up to September of 2001. I was then transferred back to Lusaka to help the church at Emmasdale from 2001 to 2003, John Leing Church from 2003 up to April 2008, Chunga Church from 2008 up to January 2010, and thereafter, Chibolya Church up to September of 2010. Just a month later, I was sent to the Petauke District again to plant a new church in an urban setup in. By His own grace, God helped and used us to plant the church.

In March of 2011, I went back to my desire and started a correspondence course with Covenant College, and I finished in November of the same year. In March 2013, I left the church I had been attending, for I did not agree with the human belief of ordaining women as pastors and elders in the church. There were too many restrictions over proper theology.

To put it in the most blunt sense, I served at Charismatic churches for 21 years.

However, in March of 2013, I joined a Reformed Presbyterian Church. Upon completion of my studies in October of 2014, I was sent to Katete to plant a new church again. God helped us, and the church was established. In September of 2015, I was set apart to pastor this church. Two years later, in May of 2017 I left the church. I did not agree with the worldly philosophy of setting apart polygamous men to be elders of the church.

Finally, in August of 2017, I joined Katete Baptist Church. By then, Elder Bernard Phiri was leading. I was received, and later on the same month, gave my salvation testimony. Pastor Gershom Nyirongo consistently taught me the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith hallmarks. In 2019, I had the desire to go and serve as a full time pastor in Nyimba. I applied, and was called for interviews, but I did not do well according to them.

God was sovereign in everything, and had His own plan.

I persisted to learn the Reformed Baptist hallmarks. Pastor Emmanuel Sakala also assisted me tremendously in this way. In 2021, I was interested in being an elder, and by God’s grace, was set apart in April of the very same year.

I became more and more eager to serve God. On October 1st, 2021, I applied to pastor Katete Baptist Church on a full-time basis. I was called to interview on October 17th, 2021, and by God’s grace, was picked by the KBC Eldership as a pastor for the church.

All glory be to God alone, and for the sake of His everlasting Son alone, Christ Jesus.
