The Lord in His infinite goodness and mercy has helped us as a couple by renewing our hope to move forward with the work entrusted to me, knowing that there are brothers and sisters around the world who are praying for and supporting us. Along with that refreshed hope, we have a healthy fear and excitement of new expectations, so thank you very much who have been an important part of that hope. We pray for you as you continue to pray for us.
One expectation of note: if God wills, this year I will finish my studies at the Berea seminary. Please pray that the Lord will help me divide His Word accurately in order to be a blessing to my family and to the church. Ask the Lord that our commitment to prayer and the study of the Word may increase each day.
Within the context of the local church, we are involved in the renovation of our church in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is an exciting challenge and yet at the same time, something fairly intimidating, because we know the work ahead presents us with many potential obstacles. “Unless the Lord builds a house, They who build it labor in vain…” (Psalm 127:1)
We desire, in the coming year, to grow as a church body in our understanding of the Word of the Lord in the life of the church. The Scriptures clearly reveal the support of laborers in ministry by those to whom they are ministering, biblical mandates for pastors and deacons, and individual responsibility for each one of us to grow in holiness and Christ-likeness. Faced with this challenge of difficult growth, our rest and hope are in the Lord Jesus Christ who builds His church. We work confidently according to His times and His Word, trusting that He may carry out the establishment of biblical pillars for future generations to come.
We see the Lord building his church now, with two young people asking for baptism. Both have been attending for quite some time. One of the young women comes from Colombia where she was heavily influenced by charismatic churches. Another is if Guinean descent and for the first time heard the gospel. Over the course of a few months, she has repented of her sin and placed her faith in Christ. We continue to work with these young ladies to discern genuine conversion and hope to be able to baptize soon.
We thank you again, brothers and sisters, for your prayers and ask for to remember us each day. Let me end the words of the prophet Jeremiah, who have served me well in these times: “The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I wait for Him'” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
