In the country of Germany, in approximately 1440 A.D., Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. This humble invention made literature available to the masses and became the instrument through which Western civilization was transformed. One of the first books to be mass-produced was the Gutenberg Bible. From that moment, there was no looking back. The production and dissimilation of Bibles and Christian literature were used to educate the masses and fan the flames of the Reformation. Since that time, the printing of Bibles and sound Christian literature has been a major force in the advancement of the Great Commission and the edification of the church. For this reason, HeartCry is constantly laboring to not only support missionaries on the field but to print and provide sound theological literature for their instruction.
For the last few years, HeartCry has been working with Alpha and Omega Publishing in Sicily to provide sound literature to Italian-speaking ministers and their congregations. In 2019, the following works were made available in Italian:
- Redemption Accomplished and Applied by John Murray
- Free Grace and Dying Love by Susannah Spurgeon
- Life of Susannah Spurgeon by Charles Ray
- The Art of Prophesying & The Call to the Ministry by William Perkin
- Be Continued? Are miraculous Gifts for Today? by Sam Waldron, with a preface by Paul Washer
- Joshua. No Falling Word by Dale Ralph Davis
This ministry is guided by pastor Nazzareno Ulfo and Giovanni Marino. Regarding the ministry, Giovanni writes”
“We sell our books below production costs and we also give some of our books for free, especially when we meet people that cannot pay for them or that need to study and understand more of God and the doctrines of grace. We understand that this mission is only possible with the faithful prayers and the generous contributions of people like you. Today we can really say that “till now the Lord has helped us”. I want to thank you for your prayers and support. We trust in God’s faithfulness that never fails.
Although the need for sound Christian literature in Italy is great beyond description, in the country of Hungary, resources are even scarcer. Therefore, we rejoice to announce that the Gospel’s Power and Message has recently been translated into Hungarian and made available to the church. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Reformation Heritage Books for the diligent and sacrificial labor to produce and distribute sound theological works throughout the world.
Please continue to pray for this essential ministry, not only in Italy and Hungary but throughout the globe where HeartCry is working advance the Gospel through the planting of biblical churches and the instruction of Christ’s ministers.
