HeartCry missionary Nicu Vulpe is a pastor with the heart of an evangelist. He and his family have served the Bethany Church in Pucioasa, Romania, for over ten years. In his recent report he shares his perspective of the work:
My time was split between building, preaching and evangelistic ministry this month.
The Lord helped us buy a piece of land in the village of Varfuri where we have two church members. We’ve been working in this village for a while and we already have a group of people there. The Lord has used our testimony in this village. We worked with the children at school and also have had a weekly program for them at the town hall. The authorities helped us on different levels. On a certain occasion, they even came to thank us for working in their village. Now the Lord has led us to build a building in this village where we are going to have church meetings, children’s meetings, a music School, a workshop with sewing machines, a laundry room (helping the old people this way) and also a small apartment for a missionary family. We have almost competed the foundation. Then a team of volunteers are going to help us build the walls and they are also providing the materials needed for this. We can see God’s good hand in all of this: a very good and nice position and a building with many facilities! We believe that the building will be very useful for our ministry in this village and in the area, as we could also organize camps. We need to lay the foundation. This was a great challenge, because we could have started doing it, but have had a rainy month. Furthermore, the people were either busy or on vacation. But, by God’s mercy, we managed to make this a priority like in the book of Nehemiah as they were involved with their families in making the foundation of the building. This was a good test for our Christian living – to take care of the ministry needs as a priority. Some of the believers took days off from work for this, while others hired others to work in their place. A non-believer found out from his mother about what we were doing and paid a builder to come work for us! This will be a nice memory for all of us!
About the evangelistic work, I can tell you that the Lord helped me work with Laurentiu (45 years old). He is very receptive and has been watching us for a long time. I believe that his questions, visits to the church, and having the Gospel explained to him will lead him to find rest in Christ!
Florin (about 40) also asks many good questions as he was really interested in the Gospel. I started with my personal testimony and then shared with him the plan and the necessity of salvation. I pray that he will find peace with God.
Adrian, Ciprian, Flori, Elena, Ion and others also heard the Gospel as we were serving in street evangelism. The catastrophe that took place in Italy gave us a new opportunity to have discussions about spiritual things with our relatives (my wife’s sister and her husband) who live in Italy and visited us. They are not Christians. I praise the Lord for the interest they hsvr shown in our discussion about the soul. We pray that they would take seriously the urgency of salvation.
