HeartCry missionary Anatol Dunas pastors the Emmanuel Baptist Church faith family in Cahul, Moldova. In the context of the local church he has begun various mentoring ministries. In this month’s report he shares about the fruit of his evangelistic and discipleship efforts:

With God’s help, we are going to have the graduation of the nineteen men involved in the equipping and mentoring program. Their wives and disciples are going to attend this celebration. Each of them has, or will have a disciple, which might become our next students.

On December 3rd, we organized five evangelistic meetings in different houses. One of these meetings was at our place, where we invited Ion (57), who repented after the preaching of the Gospel. Our first meeting was very interesting. Ion was passing by the church building and he stopped to ask what the building was. I told him it was a church. I also informed him that we had a special men’s group and I could invite him to our meetings if he wanted to visit. He wanted to come and he was very impressed. He used to serve in the army. His wife has schizophrenia and has undergone several surgeries. I guess that this difficult situation motivated him seek God. His sister has turned to the Lord some time ago and she has been a testimony to him. When he turned to the Lord, I told him we should do a Bible study together and he was so interested in this study. I began to meet with him on a regular basis and we have had fellowship and Bible study together. Today, we talked about Jesus, who came to serve, not to be served. I told him that the Christian life philosophy should be our philosophy of life. For instance, in the family, I must serve and not expect to be served; I must love and to not expect to be loved. He was very touched and said, “I’ve lived my entire life as a selfish man. I understand now how I should have lived.” I asked him, “Ion, have you been born again?” And he replied, “I think so.” “Why do you think so? Give me some arguments.” He said, “My thinking and my speaking are changing. Whatever I do, I do it now with love.” The Lord knows the truth, but Ion can see these signs that weren’t in his life before.
