HeartCry missionary, Ruxi Vandici, has served university students in Bucharest for well over ten years. Hindered by a debilitating illness, she has managed to maintain her work.
HeartCry recently sponsored a student conference. In the accompanying pic, Ruxi is shown with fellow HeartCry missionary, Lore Gal, and some of the students who attended the event. In her report this month, she shares:
This past month has been very encouraging for me! One of the greatest joy was witnessing the change in one of the girls I have been studying the gospel with in the last several months. During that time, she has been reading the Bible and has had a lot of questions. So, during the week she texts me questions. We discussed at length various aspects of the gospel, and to my great joy, she shared recently that she sees changes in her life, both in her desire to seek answers for the things she does not understand, and in the way she lives. During our worship time in church she wants to sing, not because she merely enjoys the melody, but because she believes the words of the songs. She is talking to people about God in new way. A couple of days ago she confessed that she had told a lie and then she felt convicted like she killed someone. All this makes me very hopeful that the Holy Spirit is doing a genuine work in her heart! Every time we talk I try to point her to Christ, the cross, and the forgiveness only through Christ’ atonement for ours sin. She comes from a very legalistic church and the first time I asked her how could a person be saved, she gave me a to do list of reading the Bible, praying, etc. I could not believe it! She told me she never heard these things explained in such a way. When she sinned she felt hopeless. It is so sad to talk to young people raised in evangelical churches who have never heard the true gospel of grace! It is such a joy and privilege to help her understand the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ! I pray the Lord would continue the work of grace in her life!
Another great encouragement was to hear about the guy I talked to several months ago who held Unitarian views of God. He is now starting to see that Jesus is God, equal to God the Father. This is such a great joy as I was without hope for this to be possible! In our discussion I explained that the doctrine of the deity of Christ, and subsequently the doctrine of the Trinity, were a matter of life or death. But he saw it only as holding a different view. Now he is starting to see passages like Colossians 1:15-20 and others as teaching the deity of Christ. I am so thankful to the Lord that He is still working in our midst, drawing people to Him from sin and false teaching! Praise be to His Name!
Still another great joy was meeting with a couple of young ladies who have been converted through our ministry many years ago. It was such a great blessing to see how they continue to follow the Lord; loving Him and seeking to obey Him. One of them moved to another country many years ago, and despite many trials and a lack of Christian friends, she followed the Lord with her whole heart. The Lord used her testimony and saved her mother too! Her mom is now a strong believer which is such a great encouragement for my friend! She is now witnessing and praying for her father. I was so encouraged to meet with her and see once again the faithfulness of the Lord in fulfilling His promise from Philippians 1:6
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
One of the highlights of the month was the HeartCry conference! I am so thankful for the way the Lord encouraged us by reminding us of the love of Christ and by exhorting us to seek Him! A couple of young women shared with me that the conference was very good and helpful for them. I was so glad that one of the friends I have been witnessing to and studying the Bible with attended the conference, even though she has had a very hard pregnancy. It was a burden for her to come. She could not come back the second day, but she was very interested and asked me about the sermons. May all these people be plants that are planted by the Father. Only when He plants them, will they not be uprooted! (Matthew 15:13)
