ski-camp-2019

HeartCry missionary Ruxi Vandici shares this month about the annual ski camp outreach. She reports:

“This month we had the evangelistic ski camp, and we have many reasons to thank God for. He answered many of our prayers! We have been praying that the non-Christian students would have questions and be interested in discussing God and the Bible. For most of the 27 non-Christian students attending, it was their first encounter with a clear presentation of the Gospel. We are thankful for the three talks that explained the character of God, the sinfulness of man, and Jesus being the only way of salvation through His atoning sacrifice for our sins. Some students had many questions, and it seemed there was not enough time to discuss them all. We also discussed the passages from John 3:14-21, Luke 7:36-50, John 14:1-11 in small groups. During the last Bible study I explained the gospel again to my small group, and that night the young woman I have been studying Romans with lately asked me what was the difference between genuine saving faith and false faith. We had a very long discussion until after midnight about the gospel. I explained that genuine faith is when the soul embraces Christ as his only hope for salvation, renouncing any trust in self. I told her that she could be saved that very moment if she just placed her trust in Christ! I mentioned to her how that some people are hindered to come to Christ by their sins that they do not want to renounce, but others are hindered by their own self righteousness. They do not see their sinfulness and utter need of Christ. She told me she faces the second hindrance as she cannot come just as a criminal. She had tears in her eyes. I think she understands the gospel better, but she realizes she does not see her sinfulness yet. We pray that the Lord would grant her true repentance and faith in Jesus!

After the camp we started the follow up events and were so glad that a lot of the students continue coming to our events. One young woman who came the second time this year to our ski camp expressed her desire to study the Bible with one of our Christian women. She started reading the Bible for herself. This is so encouraging! We pray that more of them will join evangelistic Bible studies!

I continue meeting with the two freshmen girls and was encouraged in our last meeting as one of them shared that in our previous Bible study when I explained to them the gospel she understood that eternal life and forgiveness of sins is received through what Jesus has done for us on the cross. That was really encouraging as before that meeting I had asked them how could a person be saved, and they could not tell me, even though they have been in evangelical churches for years. I was quite shocked when they started making a to do list for entering heaven! Sadly many evangelicals are gospel ignorant. So we are slowly going through the first chapters of Romans, and I am glad to see that they have started to understand the gospel. I know that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ”, Romans 10:17. Please pray with me that the Lord would use all these Bible studies to bring these students to saving faith in Jesus!

Please pray that the non-Christian students would attend our follow up events, and join a Bible study. Also, pray for their salvation.

Please pray for the evangelistic event on March 7th that there would be a clear and powerful proclamation of the gospel. Also for the hearts and minds of the unbelievers, that the Holy Spirit would bring conviction of sin and faith in Jesus.
