Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Greetings in Christ our Lord from the land of Nepal. Praise the Lord for His work in Nepal. I am very joyful to share what the Lord has done among these three souls. Two sisters and One brother were baptized on Tuesday April 24, 2018. Let me share more details about what the Lord has done in each their lives.
Mrs. Dhanmaya B. is from the mountains. For her nursing study, she stayed at Chitwan City, where she met with a friend who was a Christian. Her friend shared with her about Jesus Christ. Sometimes she would attend the Church with her friend. After finishing her Nursing study, she came to Butwal in order to get a job, but she was unable to find a job, and therefore moved to Bhairhwa City. Her brother in-law is a Christian, and whenever she went up into the mountains to her home, she would attend the local church. However, she was simply attending because of her family. Even though she heard the Gospel, it was not clear in her mind and it was not convicting in her heart. Two years ago, I attended in a Christian wedding program that she was also attending. I was able to talk with her and I shared the Gospel with her. At that period of time her job was at Bhairhwa city. Six months later she got a job in Butwal and started attending the church. She was not a regular at the church and showed no deep desire for the Lord.
In Nov. 2017 she talked with me regarding her brother and the problems that he was facing. He was sick. Her family took him many times to the hospital, as well as to the witch doctor, but he was not getting better. She requested me to pray for him so that he can be healed. One day, she called her brother and her uncle to come to Butwal. Myself, and the intern brothers, went to her house to visit. When we went there I started to speak about the Gospel. I spoke about who God is, and the nature of man. After a few minutes, both her brother and uncle started screaming and jumping around, showing demonic power. We prayed for them over and over late into the night. We brought both of them to our house, because there was no convenient space at her house. The next day, early in the morning, I called our pastors from different local churches and we gathered together and prayed for them. Slowly, her brother and uncle got better. Her uncle went back to his home, but we requested her brother to stay with the intern boys for one week. Everyday we prayed for him, and shared the gospel with him. After one week, he had to go back to school, which was 50 km away from Butwal, and with his uncle. The next week, Dhanmaya brought her brother to the local church for our weekly Saturday fellowship. The moment he entered the door of the meeting place, he started to act differently, showing an evil eye towards me. We started our fellowship and while singing, he jumped on me and tried to punch me. Our younger brothers caught him and held him. Five brothers had to hold him. He was with demonic power. After finishing our fellowship, we again prayed for this brother. After the prayer he was feeling very exhausted. He started to behave normal once again. We talked with Dhanmaya and suggested to her that he should stay with us for a couple of months. It would be good if we could pray and visit with him over and over. He only stayed a week with us, as his mom didn’t allow him to stay longer, because she doesn’t like Christianity. Dhanmaya also wanted her brother to stay with her in Butwal so that it would be easy for him to attend the fellowship.
God did a wonderful work in the life of Dhanmaya through this difficult situation. She was not serious about the Lord before and used to skip the Saturday worship service by always making an excuse. She had no deep desire for the Lord. But when she saw all the things that happened in her brother’s life, along with the kindness, love, and effort given to help her brother, she was more receptive to the gospel. After that, she started being serious and showed more of a desire to know more Gospel. As she learned more, she began to understand more about her sin. It was a sermon series from the book of Romans that brought conviction to her heart. Romans 3:10-12; 3:23; 6:23 was some of the key verses that lead her to finally trust fully in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She decided to take a baptism and has attended the baptism and church membership classes at the church. She gave her testimony in front of the congregation about how the Lord brought her from the darkness into the marvelous light. She testified publically of her faith in Jesus Christ by water baptism on 24 April 2018.
Miss Dhaka R. is from the mountains where pastor Gopal S. ministers. She simply attended the church because her family attended the church. As the days passed, she finished her school level study and wanted to continue in further study. Her family members and she decided to come down to Butwal for her college study. She came to Butwal in September of 2017 and started attending the local church at Butwal. It was an opportunity to encourage her in the Lord. She was able to join the youth Bible study, and sat alongside the intern boys as they studied the Word of God. God was working in her heart through the truth of His word, and by the power of His Spirit. The Lord touched her heart, and convicted her of her sin when she heard about the attribute of God’s Omniscience, while listening to the teachings on Psalm 139:1-10. Before that, she used to think that no one saw, and no one knew what she was doing. Our Lord is mighty, and His Word is living and active, and sharper than any double-edged sword (Heb. 4:12). She got an opportunity to listen to the gospel of Jesus Christ over and over. She committed her life, repented of her sin, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined the baptism class and membership class at the church. She gave her testimony in front of the congregation about how the Lord had saved her. She testified of her faith publically by the water baptism in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on 24 April 2018.
Mr. Kumar is from Kapilvastu about 40 Km West of Butwal. When he was two years old, his mother ran away with another man. He grew up in a Hindu family, a very poor family. Two years ago, in order to survive, Kumar went into the mountains for construction work. His work was not stable and he was not serious about his life. One day, one of the brothers from pastor Gopal’s church shared the gospel with him. When he heard the gospel, he started to attend the local church. His boss started giving him pressure about his church attendance. Within the month, he was fired from his job. He stayed an additional month in the mountains, but finally decided to return back to his home. He was wondering about which church he should attend. Pastor Gopal tried to help him find a church, but he could not find any biblical churches where he lived. So we decided to reach out to him, knowing that one single soul is important to the Lord. I started visiting this brother every week on Fridays since June of 2016. We started having a bible study at his home where his three brothers would also join. Slowly, God added more people. Because of his family, the atmosphere at his home was not good so we decided to shift to another place. His mother and stepfather drank every day and created lots of problems in his home. They didn’t allow him or his brother to read their Bibles or pray in the evenings. Even in this situation, Kumar continued to grow in the Lord. God convicted him of his sin while he was hearing about God’s righteousness, justice, and love that He displayed on the cross (Rom. 5:8). Though he is from a poor background, he came to know his deepest problem in his heart. By God’s grace, now he is rich in Christ, having received all spiritual blessings. Before he came to know the Lord, he was a drug addict and alcoholic. He was living an inconsistent life. God by His mercies brought him from the darkness into the marvelous light. Even though his family persecutes him, he is committed to the Lord and willing to die for the Gospel. He decided to take baptism after hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He joined the baptism and membership class at Kapilvastu. He gave His testimony in front of the congregation about how the Lord saved him. He was baptized on 24 April 2018.
We praise God for this brother. His three brothers Bishnu (15), Aakash (13), and Suraj (6) are now attending the church with him. We are also helping with their tuition fee and school dress.
Praise God for the wonderful opportunity to serve His people. Praise God for these three souls. They received baptism at 1:00 pm in the Kapilvastu River. Brother Top led the worship service. We gave thanks to the Lord through singing joyful songs about what God has done. I encouraged all the believers from book of Philippians to live in the light of the gospel, holding fast to the gospel, and running the race to endure till the end. After the message all the believers partook in the Lord’s Supper with great joy for what Christ has done on the cross. We praised God for this means of grace and closed our program with thanksgiving prayers. It was a very encouraging and wonderful time of encouragement.
We are so thankful for your continued prayers and support. Please continue to pray for these three souls; that they may continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, edifying the saints and giving testimony of Christ to this lost world. Thank You!
