On the 7th of this month I was invited to share the Word of God at the Casa Jeremias (Jeremiah House), which is senior citizens’ center in La Victoria section of Lima. I believe this time was helpful for those who attended and it was a blessing for me as well. I was blessed to be able to share the message of the hope of salvation with these people who are so advanced in age.
I also want to share with you about a sister who contacted me and asked me to speak with a friend of hers who said he did not believe in God. We got together at my house on the 25th. When I talked to this man, I listened to all of his arguments for why he said he did not believe in God. My response was that the only reason that he did not believe in God was because he did not know God. Just like him, I used to not believe in God and I used to have even more arguments against the existence of God since I was raised in a communist country (Cuba). I denied the existence of God until I came to know him and was able to see by his working in my own life the reality of his existence.
I shared my testimony with this man, how God changed my life when I believed in his Word and in his redemptive work. I shared with him how my life had been transformed, just as the Word of God says will happen for those who believe. This man was impacted by what I shared with him. He was convinced that the arguments he had depended upon to prove that God did not exist were no longer compelling in the face of what I shared with him from the Scriptures and from my testimony. Later the sister, who brought this man to me, shared with me how happy this man was to have heard the Word of God and to have seen the power of God to change lives. Please pray for him, that the seed of the Gospel, which was sown, will bear fruit. The man’s name is Carlos.
