HeartCry Missionary Tony Anghel works amoung the Rhoma Gypsies. He relates his outreach experience in his January report:
Most of the Rroma people spend New Year’s Eve with their families, eating together and spending time with them. I took this opportunity to visit many families, along with other brothers from the church. We had fellowship with those families and shared the good news with them and invited them to church. Rroma people are hospitable, but around holidays, they are even more open as they don’t forget about God. When we speak from the Word of God, they are very respectful.
I focused on visiting at the beginning of this year, because Rroma people are very open to this; they welcomed us and listen to us carefully as we share with them about the Lord. This kind of ministry works better with Rroma people than street evangelism.
When we visit a family, other people come over, such as close relatives, friends and neighbors and we are able to preach the Word of God to all of them and encourage them to get closer to the Lord.
Three brothers and I were invited for meal to a rich family that lives in our area. They wanted us to share with them about salvation. They have recently come back from France and have heard about the ministry we are doing among the Rroma people. They wanted to get to know us, so they invited us to their place. Several Rroma families attended this meeting and we spent a really good time together. We were asked many questions and we answered them. Those people were really interested in hearing about the Lord and they were very respectful with us. In the end, they asked us to pray for them. We were glad to see that several of them came to church when we had the next worship service.
We can see the results of this ministry on Sunday and Thursday when we go to church and new people are joining us. We can also see the results when we have evangelistic services and people turn to the Lord. This is a great joy for us and we feel encouraged to carry on the visiting ministry, especially in the winter, when the Rroma people are at home.
