Reformation Day: October 31st 2016 observed and celebrated.
We thank God that we were able to celebrate Reformation Day even in October 2016. The Lord showed His grace in gathering our brethren to remember the contribution of the Reformers like Martin Luther, Zwingli, Tyndale, John Knox etc.
This time was a real blessing for us all as we looked at the history of the Reformers, who in spite of the troubles of their days, carried on to preach the true Word of God without fear of the papal system and the authorities. They stood for defending the Word of God and the true church of Christ.
After we spoke about the history, we looked at the lessons learned from the Reformation. We studied the facts that the Papal had imposed several practices, which were not biblical. One of them was Purgatory, for which it was believed that if you put a certain amount of money into the treasury of the church, then your soul will jump from hell to heaven. The indulgence letter was issued to raise the support to build a physical (St. Peter’s church) building, which didn’t serve any good to the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ. We learned that true forgiveness of sin, can only come from the blood of the Christ, shed for the sinner on the cross of Calvary.
The head of the Church is the Lord Jesus Christ alone. The church must submit to the authority of the Word of God and not to any other human system in respect to Law of God. The Lord gave us a blessed time together to meditate on the Word of God and to look back at the tradition of men and the fallen system of Ecclesiology. Please keep praying for us so that we grow in Him and obey Him.
Yours brother in Christ,
Ranjit K.
