Thank you for your partnership with us in the work we are engaged in here in New Brunswick, Canada.  Your prayers to God on our behalf and generous financial support are a great help and encouragement.  Thank you for all that you do for us.  May God bless you for your kindness.

The past several months have been difficult for our family as some close relatives of ours (a mother with six children) had to flee their home and go into hiding because of very serious and disturbing abuse that had been taking place for some time by the husband and father.  An arrest was initially made, multiple charges were laid, and after several months the offender was sentenced.  He is now in jail, and the family is no longer in hiding.  This situation has made us more aware of the depths of evil that exist in the world, but it has also shown us the faithfulness of God who hates oppression and rises to defend the oppressed.  His hand was clearly at work, and for that we thank Him.  There is a long road that lies ahead for the healing of the abused as they recover from their traumatic experiences and seek to rebuild their lives.  We take comfort knowing that God is near to the broken-hearted.

Another recent situation has also been discouraging, though it is of a very different nature than the one mentioned above.  Over the past few months, two professing believers from our church who were baptized last Summer as a public demonstration of their faith, have become immersed in an online apocalyptic group whose leaders claim to be archangels who are the only source of spiritual truth and guidance on earth.  The nature of the deception is upsetting, and I strongly believe that it is demonic in nature as they not only deny the inerrancy and sufficiency of Scripture, but they also teach a false view of the Godhead and are turning people away from trusting in Christ alone as their only hope of salvation.  It is alarming how quickly our friends were pulled in and it is grieving to see how strongly they have embraced it.  They are no longer attending the church with us, but instead, they are actively promoting their group and its teaching with others.  We are praying for God to deliver them from these lies.

Having said all of that, the events of the past several months have not all been negative, and we thank God that the work of the ministry at the church has been moving forward and going well.  We are thankful to have enjoyed a blessed Easter weekend, as we celebrated the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His victory over sin and death.  The following weekend, I conducted a funeral for a young man who had passed away from cancer shortly before Christmas (mentioned in my previous report).  I am thankful to have been able to visit him and share the Gospel with him in the weeks before he died, and also to have had the privilege of sharing the hope of the Gospel with the grieving who gathered at his funeral.  Also, we recently welcomed a new couple into church membership, a young husband and wife who have four children.  Both grew up in Christian homes and are eager to serve Christ and the church.  We are thankful to have them as members, and we are currently making plans to start a weekly youth meeting in order to better minister to our young people, and hopefully reach more youth in our community.

We are grateful to God for the privilege of serving Him in the place He has called us and for His sustaining grace in the work.  Thank you for your constant support.

Please continue to pray for us.
