Dear HeartCry and Supporters,
Greetings in the name of our Lord to you all. During the past two months, there have been a lot of struggles and challenges which undoubtedly we all faced in one way or another, spiritually or physically. But I thank God for His faithfulness in holding me fast, whether in good health or in sickness. “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:28-29). Thank you very much for your partnership in many ways. By God’s grace, the men and I are doing well overall.
Because of the virus, many events that we were expecting very much were canceled, i.e., summer gospel preaching trip to hundreds of lost souls, youth conference, and other bible teaching classes in different churches to mention some. But I firmly believe that God in His most wise purpose has never failed a thing to come to pass according to His counsel exactly as He ordained it from the beginning. This is a time we rest on His sovereignty while continuing to press on in our respective ministries in the kingdom of God.
Before the lockdown in March, I was able to visit the mission field, where our missionary S is living. Through his faithful preaching in words and life, the most isolated group of people has begun to see the light of the Gospel. In a place where many would not want to spend their lives, our missionary is faithfully proclaiming the most important words of God to many precious souls. Their commitment and sacrifice deeply touched me. I’m so glad that your support has had a huge benefit for his ministry in terms of transportation, communication, and necessities so he could focus on the preaching and teaching of the Word. The other HC men, R and C, are remaining steadfast on their call. Thank God that they and their families are also safe during this time.
As I continued my trip to that area with my team, I found a couple of liberal churches on the way. We have only one solid church among them. They joined us at the dedication service of that church, where I preached. In our conversations afterward, I discovered that they had no understanding of the Gospel and of the assurance of salvation. We stayed there for a few days and preached the Gospel. Many from those churches and unbelievers showed their desire to be connected to us. They indeed expressed a desire to hear more of the message we preach. How vast is the field, and how few are the workers! The more I explore the mountains, the more villages in desperate need of the Gospel I see which I could not merely neglect afterward. The voice Paul heard in his vision echoes in my ear, “come over to us and help us!” We need to heed those calls and plan to reach out to them as many are perishing even now without Christ.
I thank God and also thank you for your help towards the translation project. I have completed “What is a Healthy Church?” by Mark Dever and published 1,500 copies in our language. But due to the present situation, I haven’t been able to distribute them all. I’m sure that once this book reaches pastors and members alike, many churches will be transformed. Please pray that this book will be used as a mirror to reflect the defects of many churches today and that Christians would recover biblical ecclesiology through the help of this book.
Moreover, please pray for another translation work, which is very exciting because of its message. Churches and Christian libraries have asked me for more of such books in our language. Gradually, solid teachings and biblical doctrines will spread from place to place among individual Christians and churches through written form. We still lack men who got passion and commitment to this ministry. Please remember in your prayers that God would raise up men willing and capable of this work so that the church would lack no suitable materials for its edification.
Finally, let us not grow weary of serving God in any circumstances. Let us pray for one another and strengthen our partnership as we are going to enlarge our Gospel territory. Thank you very much for your prayers and contributions towards the needs of me and of my coworkers in this country. God bless you!
In His service,
Elijah (May 2020)
