I would like to share a short update on my trip in the Middle East. I just left Egypt after spending several days each in 2 large cities in Egypt.

The first few days were spent with Pastor Samuel D. and his family. Samuel recently completed his theology degree in Egypt and was officially ordained in the country of Egypt (his Jordanian Bible degree and ordination were not accepted). Now by God’s grace he has received an official status as a pastor, which allows him to travel and minister much more freely than he could previously.

He took us with him throughout the city to visit families who had expressed interest in the Gospel. All of these families were from Orthodox or Catholic backgrounds, which make up the majority of nominal Christians in Egypt. The government does not allow the church to minister openly to Muslims. This city opened my eyes to the desperate condition of this country and the Middle East as a whole. Millions and millions of people crammed into a filthy city, oppressed and afflicted in every way with no one to tell them about the hope that is in Jesus! As one brother put it, “These people live their entire lives in unbelievable suffering, only to die and go to hell. It makes my heart weep!” Brothers and sisters, will we be moved into action?

Our last few days were spent with the church fellowship, House of Grace. Please pray for this small group of young believers who still meet together with no pastor. After their leader Harun died last year they had nowhere else to go – not even one Biblical church to turn to! Still they labor on against all odds, waiting upon God to bring them a pastor and hold them together.

Is your heart moved by the vast and desperate need in the Middle East? We have nothing to do but look to our God for a genuine revival to sweep across this land. In the words of E.M. Bounds, “Only God can move mountains, but faith and prayer move God.” Let us commit ourselves anew to real, sincere, sacrificial prayer for the cause of the Gospel in foreign lands.
