Marshal Kasongo is the missionary pastor of Mapalo Reformed Baptist Church in Ndola, Zambia. Here are some segments from his latest update. Like some of our other recent posts, it is a mixture of progress and painful ministry.
Fruitful Women’s Ministry
“The ladies have completed their 5 month door-to-door visitation campaign. Our ladies had given themselves to visit every home of all the women that pass through our church, including women in church membership. The fruits of their ministry have been a blessing to the church. Four women have been added to our regular attenders and members. In total, we have added 8 in regular attendance so far this year. Please pray that these 8 will grow in grace and that the Lord might add more to their number.”
Fallen Men
“On a sad note, 2 men, Mr. Kaluba and Mr. Tembo, have loved the present world and deserted us. I followed up with them on several occasions. Mr. Tembo has no proper reason why he left the church, except that he was gone from his home for a business trip for over 5 months, and when he came back he was not himself. He came twice to church and stopped. He has not been back and there are no signs of repentance.
In the case of Mr. Kaluba, sadly he had become a drunkard and promiscuous. This has damaged many relationships and harmed the reputation of the church. Mr. Kaluba is employed as a driver, and his boss is not a Christian, but a womaniser and alcoholic. Mr. Kaluba must drive him in the field of work, both in town and away from home. Such an arrangement had very negative results. The Kaluba’s marriage almost dissolved had the Lord not intervened through my pastoral oversight. Finally, after a lot of prayer and counselling, Mr. Kaluba has started attending church again. He has confessed his sin and appealed for God’s mercy and restoration. Please pray that the Lord will lead Mr. Tembo to repentance and that Mr. Kaluba’s will prove genuine.”
Faithful Brother
“In the midst of these sad events, the Lord was so gracious to His church. He opened our eyes to see one man who is serving faithfully. At this moment, we are considering Brother Mushibwe for deacon. The brother is currently being tested according to
