Mountains of Nepal

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank you for your continued prayers and support of the ministry here in Nepal.

At the end of the year, our team made a trip into the mountains to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. This is a place where Pastor Gary was prevented to visit by radical Hindus. It was more than a year since Pastor Gary had been able to visit the small flock there. The climate was very cold and it was a long drive. We hoped to reach there in 5 hours, but we were not able. Instead, it took seven hours to reach there. It was a horrible journey on our motorbikes. The roads were very bad and dangerous. We fell off of our motorbikes several times. But praise God, no one was injured badly. God protected us.

When we reached the village it was dark and very cold. We made a fire camp to warm up. The believers there welcomed us and gave us warm hospitality. We were exhausted, so right after supper we talked briefly and prayed together before going to bed. Many villagers were invited to the program on the next day. Around 65 people were gathered for the Christmas program, and around 47 people were new people. These mountain people mostly speak in their own mother tongue. Brother Terry lead the program and explained the gospel songs, and how they were about the Creator of all things. With great zeal, excitement, and compassion he led the service. Brother Doug preached. Many of them had never heard the Name of Jesus Christ. After the Gospel was preached, we were able to distribute solid biblical gospel tracts. It was a very wonderful opportunity for us that we were able to visit and proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We all are very much concerned for the small flock here, for they are sheep without a shepherd.

The people in this area, along with the other mountain villages, are isolated. Yet, I see people who are hungry to hear of the truth. We are praying that God would send a faithful laborer in this harvest field. Right now, the few gather together every week to listen to audio sermons we recorded from Philippians and 1 John. There is no one to teach and preach at this moment. Please pray for these needy souls.

Psalm 40:9-10: “I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, You know. I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.”  We rejoice that the gospel has been preached. May the Lord continue to work in the hearts of those who heard. May the seeds that were sown bear much fruit in days to come.

Praise the Lord O my Soul, praise to Him! Many thanks for your prayers.

In Him,

Silas
