I always wondered how the Reformers and Puritans taught and preached the word of God several times a week. No doubt, it took much of passion and energy to do so. Imagining their work and lifestyle can make me feel guilty in comparison. However, I always wanted to taste that lifestyle of teaching or preaching many times a week. It seemed impossible to me in this materialistic, entertainment-filled, and distracted world where people do not show much interest to spend extra time in the study of the word. However, when things suddenly changed in this world with the rise of the pandemic, things also began to change in my little world too. Slowly opportunities are springing up to live out and taste what I wanted to!

I have been leading a Bible Study on the book of Romans. It started with one person, then a few, and then many through Facebook live. There are few Telugu churches in and around Hyderabad that connect through the Facebook group. The Lord graciously opened doors for me to teach regularly over the last couple of months, and I count it as a great privilege. In the weekdays I am occupied with teaching Romans every day and on Sunday’s I am going through the Attributes of God with my church group. What a blessing it is to be able to regularly do what I love to do!

So far, the journey has been good and progressing, though there were little ups and downs. Sometimes sickness or tiredness weighs me down, and makes me worry a bit. These days even regular sickness is making people worry because of the thought that it could be a symptom for Corona! Just like many, I had that fear too, a few times when I became sick in these days. It was when I got throat infection a couple of times, I worried much! However, it just turned out to be a regular one due to season change. These things sometimes keep me from teaching, but still persevering by God’s grace.

No doubt these are tough days, but what makes me truly wonder is the providence of God, His ways, and His timing! Through Biographies and from some of my own experiences I have learned that many great opportunities arise to witness, teach, or preach God’s Word in tough and unanticipated times! I believe this is true to many of us these days. This makes me think of Romans 11:33: “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” May His Name be ever praised!  The Book of Romans has been enriching me during this pandemic season. What a great way to spend time while staying at home. When the whole world is falling apart around us, I think we can still say with Habakkuk, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation (Habakkuk 3:18).” I have been learning a lot from the book of Romans. The book is challenging me, confronting me, comforting me, and preparing me for the days ahead. The warnings about sinfulness, the promises of God to those who believe, the accomplishment of Jesus on the cross, and the responsibility of believers are all wonderfully detailed out in this book. I believe this is the book that all Christians should be very well acquainted with.
