It has been a great blessing as a church to focus more intensely on prayer when we’re together as a congregation. We now have a prayer meeting both on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. We decided to add the Sunday prayer meeting on top of our Wednesday prayer meeting because many of the brothers and sisters are not able to come to the Wednesday service. We thought it was important to have time set apart for prayer during our main service together when most people are there. We give thanks to God because He has helped us and has strengthened us greatly through these times of prayer together. We are beginning to understand more and more that Christians not only have the ministry of serving one another, but that it is just as important that we be constantly be in prayer together. The idea is that we be always dependent on our God.

I have finished preaching through the book of Galatians in the church. It was a great blessing to my own life to spend the year studying it. I’m also preaching through the Gospel of Matthew chapter by chapter. Studying and preaching through books of the Bible this way has really helped me grow in my understanding of the Scriptures and it has confirmed in a practical way in my own life the sufficiency of the Scriptures. Also, we’re studying through the Psalms and the Lord has helped me to trust him more. Psalm 62 was especially a blessing to my life, seeing the emphasis on our need to trust in God alone and cling to Him at all times. I must continually go to Christ, who is my Refuge and my Rock. He is our God and the salvation He has given us leads me to thankfulness and service.

Also, this month several new believers have spoken to me about their need to obey God in the waters of baptism. Lord willing, we will be baptizing a number of people in the coming weeks. Please pray for us as pastors in the church that the Lord would help us to preach the gospel with greater and greater precision and effectiveness, and that many who are unbelieving would come to know Christ.
