Kon teaching in a village

This was an ordinary month for us in Cambodia. Holding church every Sunday in two villages, our own, and another not too far away, kept us busy. Some months we don’t see a lot of new results or changes, some months we do, but no matter the results that can be seen, our focus needs to be on preaching the Gospel and teaching God’s Word faithfully.

I have been able to give out many more excellent Gospel tracts and some solar-powered MP3 players with the Bible on them and also dozens of excellent biblical teachings. They help new believers who cannot read well to grow stronger in God’s Word each day.

I was able to meet with some other Christians in a city about two and a half hours from here, and one of the sisters is a Vietnamese sister who lives in Cambodia. She holds Bible studies in her home during the week and is very faithful to serve the Lord as she is able. She asked me to come to the meeting at her house and share the Gospel with people coming to listen to the Bible but were not believers in Christ yet. I was happy to go meet with them.

I shared the Gospel with an old man he was touched in his heart and he prayed that Jesus would save him. This old man has had mental problems and is hard of hearing. He told us that at night he hears voices arguing, but there are no people around him arguing. Whether this is his imagination or demonic activity, we don’t know, but we do know that the Holy Spirit is infinitely stronger than any demon. Please pray for this man that the Holy Spirit will strengthen his faith through God’s Word and bring him to full mental and spiritual health.

This month, I have been greatly encouraged by Scripture in Genesis 12:1-4: “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.’ So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

I know that God called Abraham and he received promises from God that God would lead him to a promised land and that God would make his name great and that God would bless all the people of the earth through Abraham. As I read these Scriptures, again and again, I know that whether we are rich or poor at this time, God has already blessed us with His blessing by His choosing of us to receive salvation. Whether we have an abundance or lack, we can be a blessing to others through God’s grace.

I preached last Sunday, and I encouraged each of us to read and reflect on Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The words are a great reminder to each of us to see what God’s Word says and then to obey it. Verse 20 encourages us with fresh strength to face the persecutions, tribulations, and problems that we are promised we will meet. But in all this, we know that God sees us, and He will walk us through this life until the end. Hallelujah!

Pray for:

The older man who is a new believer in continuing in faith and reading the Bible. Pray that he will decide to go to church with Mrs. Chantha, the lady who holds the Bible study in her home. He lives with his family, and this is why we have to pray that he may be the salt and light for his family.

Pray for all the chickens in our village to be healthy and strong, as many have died with a sickness lately, and I am praying that our chickens will remain healthy.

A couple of the youths in our church have been out of the village to work during their school break. Pray that they will abide in the Word of God and that the Lord will help them to find a biblical church where they can participate in and join in worship every Sunday.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Sincerely,

Kon
