Goohen

“Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus Christ,

We are praising God for all He does for His church in Srae Kandal. The past few weeks, we started having the children join the worship with the adults. We have had around 17-22 children and 6 adults in attendance. We also had one new convert named Yun Lung join worship. After members of the church shared the Gospel with her, she put her faith in Jesus. Please pray for Mrs. Yun Lung to grow in faith, grow in her desire to learn more about God, and to abide in His Word.

Pastor Goohen teaches God’s Word, and prays for the children. The church in Srae Kandel currently meet in this temporary shelter under a plastic tarp.

God has been teaching me this past month that those who come to worship Him are children, old people, the blind, and the poor. In the group, we have people who are spiritually and physically poor. As I see them, I asked myself the question, “Who am I, Lord?”  I would like to share from 1 Peter 2:9-10, as God led me to these verses:

“I asked myself the question, “Who am I, Lord?”

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

We were sinners when God chose us. We all were dead in our trespasses. Graciously, God has called us to be His children. When we repent and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit gives us new life. God has transformed our lives. We became children of God.

So, the answer to my question, “Who am I, Lord?” is this: I am a child of God. We are truly His children, and that we receive His power to live for Him. If we are His children, we serve Him, pray to Him, read the Bible, and be God’s testimony to the unbelieving world. We need the Lord’s power to obey and trust in Him so that we can prove ourselves as His true children.

In Christ, Goohen”
