Igor and Mariana Seremet have a counseling ministry within the context of their local church. Recently, through an act of providence, they have been able to minister to a seventeen year old girl. Igor shares in his monthly report:
Mariana met a girl, Maria (17), last year, when she was in the hospital with our nephew, Alberto. We used to call this girl from time to time to check on her. At the beginning of the year we found out more about her illness and family. We take her out from time to time to help her with different things. Mariana bought her some girl’s stuff one day and Maria started crying. She told Mariana that her mother didn’t even call her on her birthday. While talking to her we found out the cause of her illness. Her mother is a violent woman and many times she would beat her children without any reason. One day, while she was beating Maria she accidentally cut herself on a rusty blade. She tied her leg with a dirty rag and it stayed like that for two weeks until she was taken to hospital with a high fever. She wasn’t taken care of at the hospital and was sent back home still feverish. Then she was taken to another hospital in Chisinau, where she was hospitalized. She was diagnosed with sepsis. Maria was 13 when all this happened and has been in the hospital more since then. I cannot give you all the details about her, but I can only tell you that she has also conditions that cannot be healed by medicine. Mariana and I have been trying to help her. We also visited her family which lives about 200 km away from our town. We have already shared the gospel with her several times and she is open to the message. But I think there is something inside her that keeps her from coming to God with all her heart.
