In January of this year, Pastor Jona Recaman wrote an update asking for prayer and wisdom as the church he pastors in Spain was considering a church plant. He writes an update below explaining the latest development:

This month, we continue with our theme for this special year at our church, of being “the pillar and support of the truth”, as we celebrate 40 years of testimony in the city of Pontevedra. This summer I am emphasizing our vision as a church through a series of sermons on the priorities of a church that supports the truth. I believe that our church needs to remember “why are we doing what we are doing”, and what are the “main things” according to God’s Word. We are also planning and praying for the ministries we want to restart in September, resuming after months and months of working in the middle of a pandemic. We think it’s time to leave behind temporary ministries affected by the restrictions and to carry on with Christ’s plan for His church faithfully.

The Lord keeps leading us solidly toward His call of making disciples in the city of Santiago de Compostela. On June 27th, the church in Leon ordained and commissioned a brother to go, with his wife and family, to the work of our Lord, sending them to Santiago. The actual moving will happen in September, but we are so thankful for this family’s willingness and his earnestness to serve our God wherever He sends him. Moving will be hard since they are leaving behind meaningful relationships and a consolidated ministry. However, the Lord has confirmed through the elders at Leon that this is God’s will. We deeply thank you for your prayers on behalf of this family, and we humbly ask you to keep praying that God would provide a place to meet in Santiago, for the coming months. Pray also that He would grant us His wisdom to continue with this wonderful project.
