Cham Cambodia

Our local church here in my village has been watching something amazing happening at our church here in the floating village in the central area of the Tonle Sap Lake. I was able to share the Gospel a couple of months ago with an entire family, but we didn’t know if anything would come of it because these guys are from the Cham people. The Cham people are Muslims that live in Cambodia. They usually stay to themselves and don’t mix with other people. This is why we were amazed, when about nine weeks ago, we looked out the front of our floating church, and we saw the family of Cham people that I had shared the Gospel to. They greeted us, and then they came into our church to listen to what the Bible teaches about God!

Since then, they have come to our church every Saturday for nine weeks now! We invited them to sleep over at our church, where my house is next door, rather than going all the way back home late at night, and they accepted. We have been able to have meals together, listen to them, and have relationships start between them. Also, they are building relationships with the brothers and sisters in our church. They have not professed faith in Christ, but we see God working in their hearts, and we are very hopeful that God is calling them to Jesus.

We are blessed to have a richer fellowship lately, as we have had other Cham people coming from the province of Kampong Chnnang, which is a couple of hours away by boat, and even much further than that, from the province of Pursat to listen to the Good News of Jesus and hear God’s Word. These trips are quite expensive to us in terms of the amount of gasoline needed to make the round trip, but these people are really happy to come and fellowship with us. We see God growing His church, and we smile at each other. How great is our God!

It was not too long ago that these same people did not like it when I shared the Gospel at their place, and now they come from afar to be encouraged hearing about the man whose name is Jesus, The Son of God, the Lord and Savior of men.

I am so encouraged by this Cham group coming to listen to the Gospel! God is truly building His church. I believe that the Word has power, and when they understand more about who Jesus is and what he has done for them and the world, they will come to faith in God’s timing. Keep praying, keep proclaiming, and keep believing. Please pray together with us for this move of the Cham people of Cambodia to hear about Jesus Christ, The Son of God, the Savior of the world, and for saving faith to come to them as they hear the Gospel and continue to hear God’s Word.

Blessings, Kien
