Our Mission
“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will worship before You. For the kingdom is the LORD’S and He rules over the nations.” — Psalm 22:27-28
HeartCry’s great goal and the chief end of all that we do is described in our mission statement:
The goal of our ministry is to glorify God and to bring the greatest possible good to humanity through the preaching of the gospel and the establishment of biblical churches throughout the world by means of equipping and mobilizing indigenous churches and missionaries.
We serve as a voice for the voiceless, a partner and facilitator between churches and individual believers in developed countries and indigenous churches and missionaries in some of the most unevangelized regions of the world. Our purpose is that the gospel might be preached to every creature; that a people for God might be gathered from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation; and that strong local churches might be established among them.
Our Doctrine
Jesus commanded the church to make disciples by going, baptizing, and teaching (Matthew 28:19-20). Therefore, all the missionary activity in the world is of little value unless the ultimate result is the dissemination of biblical truth resulting in the salvation and transformation of lives in accordance with the revealed will of God.
HeartCry primarily and substantially identifies with the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. It was the standard confession of the early Baptists in Europe and the confession of Charles Spurgeon and the Metropolitan Tabernacle. HeartCry also identifies with other historic Baptist confessions such as the New Hampshire Confession of Faith (1833), the Philadelphia Confession of Faith (1742), the Abstract of Principles (1858), and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
The work of Christian missions is the propagation of biblical truth. Therefore, any attempt to fulfill the Great Commission by depreciating the importance of doctrine is a theological and philosophical contradiction. Furthermore, we must realize that doctrine is not the antagonist of the Christian faith, but its foundation. Though there are those who do great damage by splitting hairs without love over truly minor issues, a great deal more damage is done by those who ignore the importance of doctrine.
Our Principles
HeartCry seeks to demonstrate God’s faithfulness to meet the needs of any who wait upon Him in prayer, even when their faith is frail and their prayers feeble. Over the last three decades, God has demonstrated that He is able and willing to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. In fact, He has done exceedingly beyond all we could ask or think. Throughout the years our faith has always been meager and our prayers too few, but God has always been faithful. As many saints throughout the ages have testified, He delights in vindicating even the smallest confidence of His children.
Our principles are based upon those established by George Müller to govern the activities of the Bristol orphanages. Most foundationally, that every need of this ministry will be obtained through prayer. We may share our missionary vision with others and even make known to them the specific tasks that the Lord has laid on our hearts to do, but we may not raise support by publishing our needs or by prodding our brothers and sisters to give. If this ministry is of the Lord, then He will be our Patron. If He is with us, He will direct His people to give, and we will prosper. If He is not with us, we will not and should not succeed.
Prayer is the ‘first work’ of missions. It is not the last recourse, but the first and most powerful resource.
Our Team
It is a complex endeavor to send missionary support to more than seventy countries, to ensure the completion of overseas projects, to monitor ever-changing domestic and international laws and regulations, to complete audits, and to prepare financial reports for donors.
Our team seeks to serve the missionaries and the donors in all of the various needs associated with glorifying the Lord in this work. Employees at HeartCry must have a servant’s heart, a passion for the lost, a burden for world missions and a strong work ethic to glorify the Lord in all they do.
There are only two human heroes in the HeartCry story: the missionaries who go down into the abyss to rescue the perishing, and the donors who hold the rope for them. HeartCry is merely the rope. We are stewards serving two heroes and their God.
