HeartCry has taken measures on multiple levels to ensure the oversight of its ministry and its endurance in faithfulness. Our structure of accountability is two-fold: (1) our local church; and (2) a board of directors.
Local Church Accountability
HeartCry Missionary Society is under the oversight of the elders and congregation of Christ Church – Radford in Virginia. The church is also represented on HeartCry’s Board of Directors by one of its elders. Additionally, the Board has historically included elders from at least two other local churches.
Board of Directors
As a 501(c)(3) (or non-profit) organization, HeartCry Missionary Society has a Board of Directors to aid in directing and monitoring its activities. Per HeartCry’s by-laws, the board manages the “property, affairs, and business” of the ministry and exercises such powers as are allowed and prescribed by statute, the ministry’s articles of incorporation, and its by-laws. Some of those duties include the approval of the ministry’s budget, oversight of compensation through a Compensation Committee, oversight of the management of financial assets, and the appointment of the President/Executive Director. The Board of Directors meets at least twice a year.
The board members are:
- Dr. Nathan Berry – Fairmont, West Virginia
- John Paul Houston – Floyd, Virginia
- Anthony Mathenia – Radford, Virginia
- Dr. John Snyder – New Albany, Mississippi
- Paul Washer – Radford, Virginia
