Testimony of Conversion
My name is Shamir K. I am married and have two sons. I am from a Hindu background. My father was very strict in his devotion to Hinduism. He ordered us to follow all kind religious activities like singing songs and other things. My life was in total darkness and very sinful.
One time, there was a big dispute in my family. Because of this, I left our house and started working in a factory. After some days, my two brothers invited my father to go to a Christian church. He went and stayed for the whole service. Afterwards, he spoke a long time with the pastor and left with peace in his heart and mind. From that moment, my father started going to church every Sunday. Every week in our house, my father had praise and worship. Because of this, I decided to go to the church on Sunday. After the Sunday services, I also had peace in my heart, and I started going to church every Sunday.
Whatever I learned in church, I would teach to others, even to the other people in the factory. Afterwards, the people in my village started saying that I had become Christian only because I was receiving money from the church. They began to oppose me and tell me to leave the village. For two years, the village people refused to have any contact with us. Nevertheless, we kept going to church and every week we would have prayer meetings in our house. Our faith in God began to grow more and more.
On December 20, 1998, I gave my life to Christ as my personal Savior. After that, I went to receive three months of Bible training. Then, after the training, I returned to my village to serve God. I do evangelistic outreach to villages and preach the Gospel of God to people. I tell them about Jesus Christ. I tell them that without Him there is no other way to save our lives from sin and darkness.
