Church Planter - North India
Nathan P. worshipped idols as a Hindu growing up. It was a physical sickness that made him question what he believed, and ultimately lead him to the place where he heard the gospel.
Testimony of Conversion and Call
My name is Nathan P. I have a wife and six children (3 sons and 3 daughters). I was born into Hindu family, and thus I grew up worshipping idols. I thought that if I worked hard enough, I would please God. In 1997 I got very sick. I went to many Hindu priests and visited many temples seeking relief from my sickness. It was all in vain. It was then I realized that these idols could not help me. I lost all hope.
Then, I remembered that there was a pastor of a Christian church that used to come into my village and share the message of the Bible. I was always against him and would treat him with contempt. But now, my sickness was getting more serious. It was around that time that a friend of mine spoke to me about Jesus, and encouraged me to go and talk to that pastor. I did. I told him what was going in my life. It was the first time I had spoken to a pastor and the first time in a Christian church. After the church meeting, many people came to me and prayed for me. I was amazed. Their actions really touched me. They had such a warm affection for me. This made me extremely happy in my life, and I returned to my home with a joyful heart.
When I got back to my home, I started praying about my healing once again, for my physical condition was continuing to get worse. When I got up the next morning, I was feeling better than I was the previous days. I could sense God’s work in my life. I then started reading the New Testament every day. I began to understand the gospel message, so I received Jesus Christ as my Savior.
After seeing these changes in my life, my wife also started believing in Jesus Christ. I then started to share my testimony in my neighborhood, and telling them about what the Lord was doing in my life. When they heard what I had to say, and they saw my changed life, they were very surprised. However, most of my neighbors were against me. But Praise the Lord, some of my family members also started believing in Jesus Christ.
I started attending church regularly, and slowly I came into a greater understanding of the Word of God. In 1998 I was baptized. I then went for evangelistic training in Kachawa in 1999 for 5 days. After this training, we used to go out preaching the gospel in the surrounding villages. In 2001, my church sent me for an additional 2 years of pastoral training. After the 2 years of training, the Lord called me to begin my ministry.
During this time I met Pastor Daniel A.. He told me about the church training program in North India. Over the last four years, these trainings and fellowship have been hugely beneficial to me. Please continue to pray that the Lord would conform me into His image and that I would shepherd His flock in a way that brings Him much glory.
