Evangelist - East India
Krishna, like her older brother Sib, was raised as a Hindu and came to faith in Jesus through the witness of an indigenous missionary. She works with the women and children in her native village in East India. She also has a good working knowledge of the Bible.
Testimony of Conversion
My name is Krishna from East India. I was born and brought-up in a Hindu family. According to Hindu culture, I used to worship many Hindu gods and goddesses. During Hindu festivals, people used to worship and bow down to each idol one time. But I used to bow down three or four times because I thought, if I bow down more than others, I’ll get more blessings from my god. Even though I was worshiping all the gods, there was no peace, joy, and hope in my life.
When my parents became Christians, they used to tell me about Jesus. But I thought Jesus is only one god among many gods. I started to worship Jesus also. One missionary from Youth With a Mission (YWAM) used to come to my home once a week to share about Christ. One day he was sharing from Psalm 45:3-8, where it is written, “The gods of the nations are made of silver and gold formed by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but can’t hear and noses but can’t smell and they’re even not able to breathe, they have feet but cannot walk. May all who make them and who trust in them become like the idols.” And also Acts 4:12. There it is written, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” He also told me, “Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sin and was buried and on the third day He rose again. He loves you so much.”
Those very verses and words really touched my heart and changed my life. From that day I realized that I was a sinner. My Hindu god could not save me. My Hindu god is a dead god. Therefore I asked Jesus to come into my heart, and I received Him as my personal Savior and Lord of my life. I started worshiping only my living God, Jesus Christ. That was in the year 1993. I took baptism in 1994.
After receiving Christ as my personal Savior, I have peace, joy, and hope in my life. Now I know for sure that I am a child of God. I have eternal life in heaven. No one can snatch me out of His hand. Now I am a new creation.
After receiving Jesus as my personal Savior, everyday I read the Bible and pray to Him. Through prayer I talk to Him and He talks to me too. I have peace of mind in my life. When I get pain or sorrow I go and read the Bible and pray to Him, and He comforts me. Whatever I need I ask Him, and He provides all my needs. Wherever I go He is always with me.
By reading the Bible and praying to God, my faith increases and my spiritual life also grows. He is using me day by day because without Him I am an empty vessel. I am not worthy to come before Him. But He molds me and makes me worthy to be used to extend His Kingdom. So now my commitment is also, “As long as I live in this world I will serve my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord!”
