Outreach among the students in Brasov
“When I die, I will be reincarnated.” – a Buddhist student
“When I die, I will be buried in the ground.” – Sabo, a Muslim student
Indico is a student in Brasov. He comes from Sri Lanka. He is a Buddhist and believes in reincarnation. I told him what Jesus had said about killing and he admitted he had killed with his mind. I told him that God said that people only die once and then there comes judgment. I spoke to him about God’s love for us through Jesus Christ and I asked him if he felt the need to be forgiven. He said he sometimes felt he needed forgiveness. He said he had never read the New Testament and told me where he lived, so I could find him and give him a New Testament. So, along with another missionary, I went to his room, where we also found Sabo, a student from Turkey, who said he was an atheist. He believed the Bible and the Qur’an were the same. I shared the Gospel with Indico and Sabo and could see how God was touching their hearts, especially Sabo’s, as I was sharing about Christ’s sacrifice. Sabo accepted the New Testament that I gave him.
Renat is from the Republic of Moldova and he is a student in Brasov. His father is an important businessman in his country. As a child, Renat attended Christian camps for ten years. When he was 18, he was a soccer player and he had an accident, so he refused to believe in God anymore. He said he was an atheist. I explained to him that God was holy and I told him about His judgment. I also told him he would have to pay for his sins. Renat listened to me carefully and accepted the Gospel tract that I gave him. He had a friendly attitude and I noticed that the seed of the Gospel, which had been planted in his heart as a child, had not been in vain.
I shared the Gospel with Ciprian and his brother, Cantemir. They were moved when they heard what the Bible says about sin and the final judgment. They had never heard the Gospel before. They both admitted they were going to hell and wanted to hear how they could be saved. They asked me to give them a New Testament, as they wanted to read it.
Alex is from Prahova County. The Gospel message was new to him. He heard for the first time what God says about sin. His mate came to take him away, but Alex refused to go, as he wanted to hear how he could be saved.
I was sitting on a bench in the campus and a young man sat down next to me. He was smoking and I started talking to him. He didn’t know he could commit murder and adultery with his mind. I kept sharing with him Bible verses about sin and the final judgment and he became more and more concerned. He realized for the first time that he was going to hell. He paid so much attention as I shared with him about Christ’s sacrifice and about forgiveness of sins through Christ. He wasn’t ready to put his trust in the Lord, but he said he would think about those things and asked me to give him a New Testament. At a certain moment, Renat showed up, the young man I had shared the Gospel with the day before. I started talking to him about God again. Cristi and Renat brought two other students with them and asked me to share the Gospel with them as well. Their names are Robert and Lucian. I spoke to them about sin and about forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Lucian thanked me, took the Gospel tract and left. Robert stayed behind, to tell me he didn’t believe what I had told them. He said he believed in Buddhism and in reincarnation. I told him that the Bible says that people are going to die once and then they will go to judgment. He took the Gospel tract I gave him.
Cosmin is a student in Brasov. I met him for the first time about a year ago, during an evangelistic outreach in the campus. I was sharing the Gospel with three atheists and Cosmin joined the group and listened to me. He only heard my personal testimony. A team of American students came to help us reach the students with the Gospel this year in June and they invited Cosmin to our picnic. Cosmin saw me there and he recognized me. He confessed he had started reading the Bible. I shared the Gospel with him and he understood for the first time that he was going to hell. Cosmin didn’t deny God’s existence, but neither did he believe in Him. After hearing the Gospel, he is still seeking the truth.
I shared the Gospel with Razvan and he felt offended when he heard what the Bible said about sin and judgment, so he said that the Bible is a story written by people. He said he loved a God that he named Buddha, Allah or a force. He wanted to live his life because he loved himself and the people around him. He said he didn’t harm anyone, but he understood for the first time that the wages of sin is death. At a certain point, he yelled at me that I should not judge him. The Lord gave me the strength to keep talking to him calmly and patiently, explaining to him that I was only telling him what God said in the Bible. I shared with him my personal testimony and also what Christ had done for us at the cross and his heart was really touched. I could see him humbling himself under the power of the Truth. Then I found out he used to go to school with our older sons and he was impressed to see that they were behaving themselves and never used a bad language. He realized that they were different and special.
Eugen and Petruta. Their daughter, Rahela, is a disabled person. Petruta got baptized in a Pentecostal church. Petruta believed that God had a good opinion about her, because she read the Bible, helped others and also attended the church. Still, she didn’t know where she would go after death. I shared the Gospel with this family. Many members of evangelical churches believe that they are with God, while they are not.
I shared the Gospel with a husnad and wife. They believed they were good people. I spoke to them about God’s holiness and about Christ’s sacrifice and they understood they had to put their trust in Christ.
Bianca has an 11-year-old son, Cristi, who is paralyzed. She heard for the first time that she was going to hell and was stunned. She didn’t know which the solution to her sins was. She didn’t know which religion was the right one. She understood she had to come to Christ and to put her trust in Him for forgiveness for her sins. She asked me to tell her what church she should attend in Zarnesti. I also gave her a Bible.
Ciprian is the president of an association for disabled persons. He had an accident with his motorcycle 20 years ago and he remained paralyzed. Then he got married to Mihaela. They believed they were good people and listened that evening after I read to them what God says about sin in the Bible. Mihaela was offended by the Gospel and left. I urged them with all my love to put her trust in the Lord. Ciprian took the Gospel tract that I gave him, but Mihaela refused it.
Kolumban Elek was baptized in a Pentecostal church. His wife is also a believer. He believed he might go to heaven after death, because he didn’t harm anyone and he had even read the Bible. In the end, His wife told me that he mistreated her and that he didn’t believe in the divinity of the Holy Spirit. I meet many evangelical church members that are baptized, but not born again.
Ioana, a writer, and Alexandra (both in their 60s) didn’t believe that there is a hell. Ioana thought she was a good person and she couldn’t accept that she was going to hell, saying that God is good and forgiving. I had to tell them about God’s justice and about the Lord’s sacrifice for us. I spoke to them about sin, repentance and faith in Christ. In the end, Ioana still believed that God was in her, but there was a lack of evidence that the Holy Spirit was in her.
Through God’s grace, I was also involved in preaching the Word in Providenta Church and in Bible study with families. I am thankful to the Lord and I praise Him for this.
