The Urgent Need to Share the Gospel (From Japan by Luis R.)
On our monthly shop at a bulk grocery store that is popular for the international community in Japan, we heard another family with a baby speaking Spanish at the cashier as we were leaving. After introducing ourselves and inviting them to the church, we found out that the father was from Peru, and had come to Japan for work. We had to head home because one of our sons was getting sick, so we asked one of our Peruvian brothers from our church, who was also at the store, to spend some time with this family and share with them the Gospel. A few days later we asked our Peruvian brother how the witnessing opportunity was received and he said that he had spent time chatting with the family but did not share the Gospel.
At a later date, an elderly Peruvian gentleman got in touch with me seeking counseling. He had lost his son in a car accident and was in the process of organizing a church service. I ministered to him, but because I had to go away on a mission trip, again I asked the same Peruvian brother from our church to accompany the elderly father in attending the funeral of his son. *Our brother returned from the funeral deeply affected. He had recognized the man who had passed away as the face of the young father he had met in the grocery store---the man with whom he could have shared the Good News, a man who needed to hear the Gospel.
Brothers and sisters, now is the time to share the Gospel. For some, there is no tomorrow.
