HeartCry supports eight men in Myanmar (Burma). We are working alongside a minister who is the director of a theological school, manages a missionary society, and serves as a local pastor. Although HeartCry is not directly involved with every facet of the ministry, we are thankful for the efforts of Pastor T. and the different ways the ministry is seeking to build healthy churches and evangelize the unconverted. HeartCry encourages you to pray for Myanmar and hope you will be encouraged by the following update from Pastor T. (names of persons and locations have been abbreviated for security).
MYANMAR MINISTRY UPDATE FOR OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2015
Dear Partner in Myanmar ministry, Myanmar is a great mission field where 94% of the population is unreached people groups who have never heard the gospel even one time. And 6% of the population is regarded as a Christian, but most of them are still nominal Christians, we believe that less than 1% of the population are born again Christians. As Jesus Said, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest" (John 4:35). I thank God that the Lord prepared faithful laborers and young people who are ready to go out to the field. May I write some highlights during October and November activities.
I. BIBLE TRANSLATION MINISTRY and LITERATURE MINISTRY: We the Falam Chin people need a good Bible and I started translation work since 2002 and NT was printed in 2009. I have been working on OT and almost over. I went to India to be with my translation consultant Dr. S. and I Checked Jeremiah Chapters 41-52 word by word and verse-by-verse. I thank God that Dr. S. knows Hebrew very well and he is expert in Bible translation as he has been doing for more than 12 years. We could finish Jeremiah and we finish checking all OT introductions also. Our plan is Dr. S. will come to Myanmar soon and check again the book of Ezekiel and then the whole OT will be done. Then Key Term check (every verb, every noun, every adjective, every adverb and every number check) will be done again. This is my goal to finish even that work by 2016 and print the Hole Bible in 2017. Pray with me for my Bile translation work.
II. BIBLE COLLEGE MINISTRY AND ITS OUTREACH: Students are working hard on their studies and teachers are also keeping busy in teaching and mentoring the students. At the same time the teachers and the students are busy in outreach ministries as well. By God’s grace through the ministry of the Bible College, students, six small churches have been planted and each of the churches under the pastoral leadership of the men from the College Faculty. What a fruit of the College ministry!
III. EVANGELISTIC CRUSADES AND BIBLE CONFERENCES:
(1) ATR Town Evangelistic Crusade: A three day Evangelistic Crusade was conducted October 29-31, and we thank God that five persons received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and took water baptism and they joined the church.
(2) CB Evangelistic Crusade: Missionary P.B. has been at that place with his family. The church has been exited there through his ministry. He wants and tries to grow the church through witnessing, but it is difficult. A two-day evangelistic crusade was conducted November 12-13, and 8 persons professed that they received Jesus as their Savior, but only one person took water baptism. We praise he Lord for that.
(3) D.T. Bible Conference: One of our missionaries namely Job organized a three-Day Bible Conference November 6-9. My son and his two friends were speakers and 28 believers came faithfully to the conference. They emphasized evangelism, missions, and discipleship.
(4) C. E. Fellowship Annual Conference: As I was invited to be the speaker for that conference, I went to H. town and preached for five days and emphasized Christian Life, Discipleship, and Missions. As a result of that conference, 67 persons dedicated their lives for the ministry of the Lord. I praise the Lord for that. We also visited the landslide places; there are about 5000 people are in the camps due to having no houses. The Hakha Chin people are very strong in prayer and we also visited the prayer mountain where people pray nonstop for Revival.
Yours in His service, Pastor T., Servant of the Lord
