Testimony of Conversion
I grew up in a Buddhist family. When I failed the exam in grade 12, I decided to leave my hometown to look for a job; but the career I found was not successful. Then I decided to come back home. When staying at home, I did not help with the household work at all. I went out with friends a lot and did many bad things such as drinking, gambling, etc. When my grandpa saw me living that way, he sent me to live with his relatives in Phnom Penh.
In Phnom Penh, I lived with a Christian family. At that time, they would go to church every Sunday and would bring me with them. At first, I went to church just for the sake of the house owner with whom I lived. Moreover, I could study music, computer, and English for free. I considered it an opportunity for me. My thinking was the same as others who want physical benefits. However, the real benefit I received was to receive Jesus Christ as my Savior. I did not believe until after six months of going to church, listening to sermons, attending youth programs, and hearing the Good News from the church elders. Then, I decided to believe in Christ because I knew that God is the God of all people. He could save me from my sins, and I could go to heaven. So, I decided to believe in 1997.
After believing in God, my life was hope-filled and joyful, and I even succeeded in many things. The reason why I say like this is because when I look back to the past, I realize I don’t deserve anything. I have attended many seminars, got to know Christ more, studied music, computer, and English, and even studied at Phnom Penh Bible School. Going to study there is what I never thought about before. At the same time, I was able to finish a Bachelor of Law from Build Bright University. I am so thankful to God that I have become Christ’s servant, the one who brings the Good News to many people who want to hear and get to know Him. That is my life success and my real joy.
